My Kawaii Life
Inspired by my green life feature in Domino magazine, I tracked my day, with both my fantasy and reality.
9:04 - Fantasy. Wake up to my robo-kitty alarm clock saying "Rise and shine" in an little cute voice (Think Sumomo from Chobits). Then it reminds me of what I have to do that day, the weather, and anything else I want to know.
Reality. Lico (my calico cat) comes to say good morning, she lays on top of me and purrs. Mmmm... she's warm, so I stay in bed a bit longer. An unreliable but adorable alarm clock.
9:35 - Fantasy. Curl up by a warm fire and drink the fresh brewed chai latte (or a fruit and yogurt smoothie) while munching on almond croissants and getting updates from my robo-kitty.
Reality. It's gray and chilly today so I turn up the heat to over 60 degrees and make warm oatmeal with wheat germ and Smart Balance "buttery spread" made with healthier oils.
9:50 - Fantasy. Do some Yoga or exercise while my robot plays my favorite music or podcasts.
Reality. Turn on the laptop and check email, rss, and say good morning to my friends with desk jobs.
10:17 - Fantasy. Have another yummy chai latte and do a quick update on my blog (since I've caught up on all my email and rss, thanks to robo-kitty).
Reality. Make a cup of chai latte in the microwave. I try to make it taste like Starbuck's, but even with the Tazo chai syrup I can't get it right. Then I read the links my friends send me and send any interesting ones to them. I remember that book I wanted to read, but leave it where it is.
10:48 - Fantasy. Post some new art I've done too.
Reality. Lolcats make me LOL.
11:03 - Fantasy. Even though it's my day off I would like to be doing something productive. Like some sort of freelance project or research for writing? Or I get to read from the pile of books I have all over the place (the pre-publication ones I get for free, right? ;) because my blog is so popular...).
Reality. Time to work on my display project due tomorrow for Children's Services class. I'm making a large board game, so I spend a lot of time plotting out the maze on graph paper.
12:25 - Fantasy. Run out in my new Honda Element (please note that in reality my beater car hasn't run in months) and have lunch with my friend Sarah. We get to catch up and show each other what we've been working on, maybe some new sketches. I'd probably eat a nice warm cafe style panini, perhaps chicken and roasted peppers on focaccia from Barnes & Noble.
Reality. Yogurt Break. Hmmm... it was "best by" last week. It smells ok, so I'll take the chance and eat it.
2:06 - Fantasy. I'm back to work on one of my lucrative projects and time is whizzing by. I'm sure Robo-kitty is chiming in with encouragement now and then.
Reality. I'm really hungry now. Time for lunch, a small bit of leftover pasta and breadsticks from the mall.
3:12 - Fantasy. I just put my bike away after taking a quick break to get some fresh air.
Reality. Caught myself spacing out watching World's Most Amazing Videos, so I shut off the tv.
5:00 - Fantasy. Finishing up that project, whatever it is...
Reality. Just finished tracing my library maze onto posterboard from the stencil I made. It took a while, but it really looks neat. Time to get ready for class.
5:50 - Fantasy. I'd like to spend the evening hanging out with some friends, maybe a game night or a movie.
Reality. I have to got to class, but before hand I run into the school bookstore and see that book of riddles and puzzles is on sale, pick it up with some magnets for my board game, and a pack (or two) of Raisinets.
6:02 - Fantasy and Reality match (If I have to be in class, that is). Class begins, we discussed thesis statements (it's good to know my years of being an English Major can help my classmates write better papers), and later I showed everyone how to play Wii bowling.
8:50 - Fantasy and reality match again. I sneak in a round of DDR at the end of class (don't you wish you were studying to be a library technical assistant?)
9:35 - Fantasy. I would like to run to visit my boyfriend but,
Reality. I'm too tired and arrive home after driving in the pouring rain, then I change into drier clothes.
10:36 - Fantasy. A little before bedtime reading from my really really needs to go back to the library soon pile.
Reality. Have an after dinner Klondike bar while watching the Colbert Report
11:13 - Fantasy. Write down a list of things to do tomorrow and come up with a great idea for a blog entry. I tell robo-kitty to remind me in the morning and remember to return the library book I just finished.
Reality. I discover cutest fuzzball ever on the internet!
12:29 - Fantasy. Asleep in bed dreaming sweet dreams.
Reality. Finishing watching the Daily Show and typing this up. Time for bed.
As I look back on this entry I realize that, except for a few details, I get to do a lot that I would like. I do wish I could exercise more, see more of my friends, and get some more stuff done. At least on this day I got a lot of work done for school. Of course, having a robo-kitty would be a big improvement!
